    Walk the Wight 2012

The time of year has come again… Bright and early on Sunday 13th May 2012, 64 walkers from Sinclair IS Pharma will once again partake in the fundraising event, ‘Walk the Wight’- a sponsored walk across the Isle of Wight. Last year, our participants completed the first part of the walk, therefore this year they shall complete the second part- from Carisbrooke to Needles Park, covering a total distance of 14 miles.

Undeterred by the unpredictable UK summer weather, our walkers will further be embracing the great outdoors, by camping in tents the night before.

This is obviously a fantastic team-building exercise for Sinclair, but more importantly, a brilliant opportunity to get involved in fundraising for the charity and organiser of the event, the Earl Mountbatten Hospice.

The Earl Mountbatten Hospice is the only hospice on the Isle of Wight, and cares for over 800 patients every year either through the In-Patient Ward, Day-care Unit or Hospice @ Home team. Its aim is to give its patients and their families the best quality of life possible. It currently costs £3.7 million to run the Hospice each year. While it receives a grant from the local Primary Care Trust for approximately a third of this sum, it still has to fundraise £4,500 each day to provide this unparalleled level of care.

With your help, we can all contribute towards this worthy cause. By sponsoring us today (see JustGiving link below), you can support our team in this adventure and make a difference to the local community on the island. Any donation, no matter how big or small, will make a difference, so please do donate to the cause.

Donating through JustGiving is fast, simple and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never pass them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. If you are a UK taxpayer, please make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation.

Thank you very much for your support- it is greatly appreciated!

The weekend came and then it went… ‘Walk the Wight’ 2012 has now been completed! The participants travelled from far and wide, arriving throughout the Saturday to be greeted by the surprisingly beautiful weather! After managing to put up the tents, it was time for what everyone was looking forward to: the BBQ! A revelation: Pimm’s is not just a British favourite but an international favourite! Only the bravest stayed up into the night with a few hours to go until the early rise on the Sunday…

Sunday began with an intense dismantling of the tents, before setting off to Carisbrooke to begin the walk. After 5-6 hours, everyone had completed the walk in the fantastic weather, enabling the breath-taking views of the island and beyond to be taken in. The participants then set off from Needles Park on their journeys back home- with a good few rather sun-scorched faces! A brilliant weekend was had by all- stunning scenery; a chance to meet and get to know many different people within the company; the opportunity to be part of an event which raises money for such a great cause, the Earl Mountbatten Hospice.

The fundraising will continue for a short period now that the event has been completed so please continue to donate to such a worthy cause.

Thank you very much again for all your continued support!
